Then I thought that it might just be the second coming of Margaret Thatcher. What a relief to find out it was only a police training exercise. No aliens, no resurrected politicians, no bands of armed cut-throats rampaging across North Edinburgh – phew! (I’ve now eaten all the stockpiled food, though …)
